Rome was good, but not as great as I hoped. Still -- very beautiful place, albeit hectic. It's so much warmer in Italy than it is in Germany. When we returned home, I was wearing a dress and my legs were freezing off (thank goodness I was wearing boots.) A couple of comments & tips for you:
The public bathrooms there are really weird, they have no seat. I like to read what is scrawled on the bathroom stalls... a few I remember are "Marik, I am lonely and sad, and you forget me so quickly." and a bunch of "Jody was here on ___." The rest were either in German or Italian. There was an Italian note which was like a novel. I wonder what that was about.
I've had so many dreams in where my teeth were falling out, and I had another one today. Every time I have it, I think it's real. They were small teeth, the ones I had before my big ones grew in. Blood would always spill from my mouth, way too much from actual teeth falling out.
I really wish someone would buy the Anthony Perkins films I'm selling, but I'm not telling the right people I guess. I need money to buy my parents's Christmas presents, and I want to use my own money. For now I've planned to get my mother a Giada De Laurentiis cookbook (I can't decide if I should get Everyday Italian or Giada's Family Dinners) and an assorted blooming flower tea set. Isn't that beautiful?! I read it in the airline magazine and I remember seeing it in Marie Antoinette. My father is getting a pair of vintage Adidas from the 70's, they're unavailable now so I'm glad I found the seller. We are celebrating Christmas early because I'll be away exercising and being yelled at 24/7 at boot camp. Sigh!
1. If you're going to travel in Europe, take RyanAir. It's the only way to go. 50 euros per person. No airline can beat that.
2. The Anagnina metro station has tons of people selling fake designer bags, watches, scarfs, etc. Chances are if you are a big budget filmmaker or famous musician, your movie or cd will be there in bootleg form. Also: negotiating is KEY! Be insistent in buying at half price. They bought it for 1/10 the price they're selling to you.
